Gaal: ²⁸ Who is this Abimelech, and who are we here in Shechem that we should serve him? Didn’t the son of Jerubbaal and his deputy, Zebul, serve the men of Hamor, Shechem’s father? Why then should we serve him? ²⁹ I wish this people were under my command! I would get rid of Abimelech. I would tell him, “Go ahead. Call out your army!”
